Kids can learn to fly-fish
The old saying goes if you want to feed a man for a day, give him a fish, but if you want to feed him for a lifetime, teach him how to fish. However, there ought to be an addendum: if you want to teach him to relax for a lifetime, teach him to fly-fish. The Upper Chattahoochee chapter of Trout Unlimited is sponsoring a fly-fishing class for youngsters 10 to 15 years old on May 9. The class will be limited to 36 new students and costs $15 each. The sponsors, who also include The Fish Hawk and Georgia Women Fly Fishers, are providing all the equipment to kids who need it. Veteran fly-fishers will provide basic instruction, including an overview, knot-tying, bug identification, and fly-casting. No hooks will be used for safety's sake.
